Fairfield County Bank is a financial institution that traces its origins back to May 14, 1871, when it was established as Ridgefield Savings Bank. Over the years, the bank underwent several name changes and organizational transformations. In 1970, it adopted the name Ridgefield Bank, which remained until January 1, 2004, when it rebranded as Fairfield County Bank Corp. On the same date, it acquired Fairfield County Savings Bank located in Norwalk, Connecticut. Subsequently, on June 21, 2004, the bank expanded its services by acquiring the Bank of Westport in Westport, Connecticut. The main office was relocated to 150 Danbury Road in Ridgefield, Connecticut, on August 1, 2002. The institution transitioned its trust powers to full status on June 10, 1992. On January 2, 2007, Fairfield County Bank changed its organizational type to a stock savings bank and updated its name to Fairfield County Bank. I mistakenly deposited a check which clearly stated on the front that it was VOID due to passing a deadline. My bad. Nonetheless, Fairfield Bank cleared it as OK for deposit, then hit me with a $25 fee for the returned check.
