History Of F & M Community Bank
F & M Community Bank, National Association, is a financial institution headquartered in Preston, Minnesota. The bank was established on March 11, 1911, under the name Farmers & Merchants State Bank of Preston. In 1981, it underwent its first name change to Farmers and Merchants Bank of Preston, and later became Farmers & Merchants Bank of Preston in 1982. The main office was relocated to Main Street in Preston in August 1989, and the institution was renamed F & M Bank of Preston on the same date. Following another move within Preston in July 2002, the bank adopted the name F & M Community Bank and transitioned to a national bank, becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System. The institution's primary federal regulatory agency changed to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and it was also designated as F & M Community Bank, National Association, on July 1, 2002.
