Extraco Banks is a financial institution that was established on September 20, 1933, under the name First National Bank of Temple in Temple, Texas. Over the years, the bank underwent significant expansion through a series of acquisitions. In 1988, it acquired Texana National Bank of Belton, followed by Citizens National Bank of Killeen in 1989. The bank continued to grow by acquiring the First National Bank of Temple - South in 1991. A notable rebranding occurred on March 29, 1999, when the institution changed its name to Extraco Banks, National Association. This marked the beginning of a series of acquisitions, including the purchase of Extraco Banks, National Association in Waco, Texas, on May 21, 1999, and subsequent acquisitions of Bank of Troy and Lorena State Bank on June 28, 1999, and Guaranty Bank & Trust Company in Gatesville, Texas, on March 31, 2000.
