History Of Exchange State Bank
Exchange State Bank was established in 1900 as the Exchange State Bank of Hills in Hills, Minnesota. Over the decades, the institution underwent several significant changes, including a relocation of its main office on May 19, 1980, to State Highway 270 and County Road 6 in Hills. On April 30, 2004, the bank changed its name to Exchange State Bank and simultaneously acquired Ellsworth State Bank in Ellsworth, Minnesota. This was followed by the acquisition of Hardwick State Bank in Hardwick, Minnesota, on October 1, 2007. The main office was moved again on September 8, 2008, to 310 Gabrielson Road in Luverne, Minnesota. Exchange State Bank continued to operate until it merged with Security Savings Bank, based in Canton, South Dakota, on January 14, 2019.
