History Of Exchange Bank & Trust
Exchange Bank & Trust, originally established as The Exchange National Bank of Atchison on February 19, 1857, has undergone several name changes and acquisitions throughout its history. On May 9, 1973, the institution was renamed The Exchange National Bank and Trust Company of Atchison. Later, it became Exchange National Bank & Trust Co. on June 4, 2011, the same day it acquired the First National Bank & Trust Co. of Leavenworth, Kansas. The bank continued to expand by acquiring Rushville State Bank in Rushville, Missouri, on August 1, 2012, and The Troy State Bank in Troy, Kansas, on December 6, 2012. Significant regulatory changes occurred on December 30, 2016, when the bank changed its name to Exchange Bank & Trust, transitioned its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), altered its status to a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System, and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. Additionally, the chartering agency was changed to state-level governance on the same date.
