Entegra Bank

Entegra Bank was originally established in 1922 as Macon Savings and Loan Association. Over the decades, the institution underwent several name and organizational changes, including becoming Macon Savings Bank in 1990 and later Macon Savings Bank, Inc., Stock Savings Bank in 1997. In 2001, the name was changed to Macon Bank, Inc. and, in 2015, the institution was rebranded as Entegra Bank. In the following years, Entegra Bank expanded its operations through acquisitions, including OldTown Bank in Waynesville, North Carolina, in 2016, and Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia in Gainesville, Georgia, in 2017. On March 23, 2017, the bank changed its organization type to a commercial bank and became a state-chartered bank, not a member of the Federal Reserve System. Entegra Bank's history culminated on December 31, 2019, when it merged with First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company, based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
