Emerald Bank was established on October 1, 1884, originally under the name State Bank of Burden. In its early years, the bank served the local community in Burden, Kansas. On January 29, 1998, Emerald Bank moved its main office to 333 Main Street in Burden and became a member of the Federal Reserve System while changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. In 2005, the institution changed its name to Emerald Bank. On April 1, 2023, Emerald Bank merged with and became part of Bank of Commerce, located in Chanute, Kansas.
