History Of Elberton Federal S&L

Elberton Federal Savings and Loan Association, later known as Elberton Federal S&L, was established on January 1, 1922. Over its history, the institution underwent several significant changes. On April 28, 2003, it relocated its main office to 610 College Avenue in Elberton, Georgia, and then moved again on November 3, 2003, to a new address at 6 Church Street in Elberton. In a regulatory change, the primary federal regulatory agency overseeing the institution changed to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 21, 2011. Ultimately, on July 31, 2023, Elberton Federal S&L merged with Oconee State Bank, which is based in Watkinsville, Georgia, thus concluding its independent operations.
