Dakota Western Bank, originally established as The Bank of Rhame, North Dakota, on January 1, 1910, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On January 2, 1948, the institution became a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System, which marked a pivotal shift in its regulatory classification. The bank changed its name to The Dakota Western Bank on November 15, 1976, and subsequently moved its main office to 302 South Main Street, Bowman, North Dakota, on the same day. After several decades of operation, the main office was relocated again on July 23, 2008, to 202 South Main Street in Bowman. On March 10, 2001, Dakota Western Bank acquired West River State Bank located in Hettinger, North Dakota. The most recent change occurred on September 12, 2014, when the institution officially adopted the name Dakota Western Bank.
