History Of CTBC Bank
CTBC Bank, originally established as Pan American National Bank of Los Angeles on April 27, 1965, underwent several name changes and acquisitions throughout its history. In 1981, it became Trans American National Bank, and later Trans National Bank in 1984. The bank expanded its footprint by acquiring Newport Harbour National Bank in Newport Beach, California, and Bank of San Marino in San Marino, California, both in 1983. In 1995, the institution changed its name to China Trust Bank of California and shifted its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation while withdrawing from the Federal Reserve System. Following the acquisition of China Trust Bank of New York in New York City on August 29, 1997, the bank rebranded itself as Chinatrust Bank (U.S.A.). Another notable acquisition included The Express Bank in Houston, Texas, in 2003. On March 4, 2013, the institution adopted the name CTBC Bank Corp. (U.S.A.) and subsequently relocated its main office to 801 South Figueroa Street, Suite 2300, Los Angeles, California, on June 24, 2013.
