Cowboy State Bank, originally established as Ranchester State Bank in 1912, has undergone several changes throughout its history. The bank's main office was first located at 515 US Highway 14 in Ranchester, Wyoming. In 1978, the main office was relocated to the same address it currently occupies. On October 8, 2001, the institution changed its name to Cowboy State Bank. By May 22, 2002, it transitioned to a state-chartered bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System.
