Cortland Bank was established on January 1, 1892, originally named The Cortland Savings and Banking Company. Over its history, the bank expanded its operations and services, notably changing its trust powers to full service on August 15, 1972. On October 15, 1979, Cortland Bank acquired the Western Reserve Bank of Portage County, located in Windham, Ohio. In a significant development, on November 1, 2021, Cortland Bank merged with and became part of The Farmers National Bank of Canfield, located in Canfield, Ohio, marking the end of its independent operations.
