In 1978, the bank acquired Warren Savings Bank located in Warren, Massachusetts, and changed its name to Spencer Savings Bank. The bank became FDIC-insured on July 8, 1985, and further evolved in its organizational structure when it transitioned to a Stock Savings Bank on May 1, 2007. In a significant development on June 12, 2017, the institution changed its name to Cornerstone Bank and acquired Southbridge Savings Bank in Southbridge, Massachusetts. On the same day, it became a member of the Federal Reserve System.
