CornerBank was established on September 27, 1872, originally under the name The First National Bank of Winfield in Winfield, Kansas. The institution underwent several name changes, becoming CornerBank, National Association on April 22, 1998, and later rebranding to simply Cornerbank on June 28, 2014. Throughout its history, CornerBank expanded through acquisitions, notably acquiring The Oxford Bank in Oxford, Kansas on July 29, 1991, and The Exchange State Bank in Douglass, Kansas on August 25, 1997. In 2014, CornerBank transitioned to a state-chartered bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System.
