Conway Bank, established on May 1, 1886, was originally named The First National Bank of Conway Springs. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes, becoming The First National Bank on January 1, 1996, and then The First National Bank of Conway Springs on January 18, 2001. On December 21, 2016, the bank changed its name to Conway Bank and transitioned to a State Chartered Bank under the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. Notable events in its history include the acquisition of The Farmers State Bank of Norwich, Kansas, in 1996 and The Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Argonia, Kansas, on October 13, 2017, as part of a government-assisted merger.
