HISTORY OF COMMUNITY SAVINGS
Community Savings, originally established as The Caldwell Building and Loan Company in 1885, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On February 19, 1970, the institution changed its name to The Caldwell Savings and Loan Company. In 2004, it transitioned to a Mutual Savings Bank and its name was altered to The Caldwell Savings & Loan on May 26 of that year. On the same date, it changed its bank class to a Federal Savings Bank and its chartering agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS). Subsequently, on February 21, 2005, the institution adopted its current name, Community Savings. This was followed by a change in its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 21, 2011. Most recently, on January 10, 2017, Community Savings changed its organization type to a Stock Savings Bank.
