History Of Community Bank of the Chesapeake

Community Bank of the Chesapeake was established in 1950 as the Tri-County Federal Savings and Loan Association. In 1988, the institution underwent a name change to Tri-County Federal Savings Bank of Waldorf and transitioned to a Stock Savings & Loan organization in 1987. The bank rebranded again in 1997, becoming Community Bank of Tri-County, and changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve System. Shortly thereafter, it became a state-chartered commercial bank. On October 18, 2013, the bank adopted the name Community Bank of the Chesapeake. In 2016, it changed its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. Community Bank of the Chesapeake expanded its operations significantly in 2018 with the acquisition of County First Bank located in La Plata, Maryland. On July 1, 2023, the institution merged with Shore United Bank, N.A., based in Easton, Maryland, marking a new chapter in its history.
