Commercial State Bank

Commercial State Bank was established on January 1, 1921, originally under the name Commercial State Bank of El Campo, Texas. The institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System on March 13, 1946, and held that status until it withdrew from the system on May 17, 1960, changing its regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and becoming a state-chartered bank not affiliated with the Federal Reserve. On August 24, 2013, the bank changed its name to Commercial State Bank and acquired The City State Bank of Palacios, Texas. In a significant shift, on May 8, 2014, Commercial State Bank became a member of the Federal Reserve System once again and changed its charter to a state-chartered bank within the Federal Reserve. On January 1, 2018, it merged with First Financial Bank, National Association, located in Abilene, Texas. The bank officially changed its name to First Financial Bank on April 23, 2024.
