History Of Colonial Savings
Colonial Savings, F.A. is a financial institution based in Fort Worth, Texas, originally established on January 1, 1962, under the name Colonial Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including a name change to Colonial Savings and Loan Association, F.A. on December 4, 1991, as well as a shift in its chartering agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS). That same year, Colonial Savings acquired Colonial National Bank in Fort Worth on January 1, 1993, and subsequently changed its trust powers to limited on January 22, 1993. The institution adopted its current name, Colonial Savings, F.A., on February 18, 1993. Colonial Savings further expanded its portfolio by acquiring BannerBanc Federal Savings and Loan Association in Garland, Texas, on September 28, 1990. The main office was relocated twice; first to 2624 West Freeway in Fort Worth on December 4, 1991, and then to the current address at 2626c West Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, on April 15, 2010. Most recently, on July 21, 2011, Colonial Savings changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
