Civista Bank is a financial institution that was originally established on March 1, 1884, under the name The Citizens Banking Company. The bank underwent a significant transformation on November 17, 1939, when it became a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System. Over the decades, Civista Bank has expanded through a series of mergers and acquisitions. Notable acquisitions include The Citizens National Bank of Norwalk in April 2002, The Castalia Banking Company in January 2003, and First Citizens Bank in October 2005. The institution rebranded to Civista Bank on February 18, 2015. Continued growth saw the acquisition of Champaign National Bank in December 2007, followed by Miami Valley Bank in October 2007 as part of a government-assisted merger.
