Citizens Union Bank of Shelbyville was established on July 1, 1888, originally under the name Citizens Union Bank. Over its long history, the bank underwent several name changes and expansions through acquisitions. In 1984, it adopted its current name, Citizens Union Bank of Shelbyville. The bank's main office moved multiple times, with significant relocations occurring in 1996 and 2000 to its current location at 1854 Midland Trail in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Ultimately, on January 1, 2022, Citizens Union Bank of Shelbyville merged with and became part of German American Bank, headquartered in Jasper, Indiana.
