HISTORY OF CITIZENS FIRST STATE BANK OF WALNUT

Citizens First State Bank of Walnut was established on January 1, 1920, originally named Citizens State Bank of Walnut. Over the decades, the institution underwent several name changes and operational adjustments. On October 19, 1959, it adopted the name Citizens First State Bank. This was followed by a significant rebranding on January 19, 1961, when it became known as Citizens First State Bank of Walnut. The bank expanded its services in 1986 by changing its trust powers to full power on January 31. On September 2, 1980, the main office was relocated to 105 North Main Street in Walnut, Illinois. The bank ultimately merged with Community State Bank in Galva, Illinois, on October 1, 2022, marking the end of its operations as an independent institution.
