History Of Citizens Bank & Trust Company
Citizens Bank & Trust Company is a financial institution that was established on January 1, 1888, under the original name of The Citizens National Bank in St. Paul, Nebraska. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes in trust powers and institutional structure. On December 29, 1911, the bank was granted full trust powers. In 1980, significant changes were made when the institution changed its name to Citizens Bank & Trust Company, altered its chartering agency to a state level, and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The bank again upgraded its trust powers to full status on March 20, 1980. In 1993, it made another transition to full trust powers. A major milestone occurred on December 1, 2009, when the bank rebranded as Citizens Bank & Trust Company following the acquisitions of Central Bank in Central City, Nebraska, and Citizens Bank in Loup City, Nebraska.
