Citizens Bank of Northern Kentucky was established on October 12, 1993, originally under the name Citizens Bank of Campbell County, Inc. The bank underwent a significant rebranding on October 12, 2001, changing its name to Citizens Bank of Northern Kentucky, Inc., and expanded its trust powers to full. On October 13, 1993, it moved its main office to 103 Churchill Drive, Newport, Kentucky. In a series of mergers, the bank was acquired by United Bank & Capital Trust Company on February 18, 2017, which also involved a name change to United Bank & Capital Trust Company. Subsequently, on August 20, 2018, Citizens Bank of Northern Kentucky became a part of WesBanco Bank, Inc., based in Wheeling, West Virginia.
