Citizens Bank Minnesota is a financial institution established on December 13, 1875, originally under the name Citizens' State Bank of New Ulm. The bank underwent a name change on March 11, 1983, becoming known as Citizens Bank of New Ulm. Over the years, the institution expanded through a series of acquisitions, beginning with the purchase of Citizens State Bank of Lafayette in Lafayette, Minnesota, in 1993. In 1999, it acquired the State Bank of La Salle in La Salle, Minnesota. The organization rebranded itself as Citizens Bank Minnesota on July 1, 2003. Subsequent expansions included the acquisition of Farmers State Bank of Watkins in Watkins, Minnesota, on April 16, 2020, and Ormsby State Bank in Ormsby, Minnesota, on January 22, 2021.
