Chester National Bank, originally established as Chester Savings and Loan Association in 1919, has undergone several transformations throughout its history. In 1989, it changed its name to Chester Savings Bank, FSB, and transitioned from a charter with the Office of Thrift Supervision to a mutual savings bank. In 1990, the bank expanded its operations by acquiring Heritage Federal Savings and Loan Association located in Sparta, Illinois. A significant turning point occurred in 1996 when the institution changed its organization type to a commercial bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System. That same year, it also switched its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. In 2011, Chester National Bank expanded further by acquiring Chester National Bank of Missouri in Perryville, Missouri.
