CFG Bank, originally established as AmericasBank on December 1, 1997, underwent several name and regulatory changes throughout its history. On September 20, 1999, the institution transitioned to a commercial bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System, with its primary federal regulatory agency changed to the Federal Reserve. However, on June 18, 2019, CFG Bank withdrew from the Federal Reserve System, reclassified itself as a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve, and changed its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The bank also took on the name Cfg Community Bank during this period. On April 30, 2012, CFG Bank moved its main office to 11 West Ridgely Road, Lutherville, Maryland.
