Century Bank

Century Bank was established on May 1, 1969, under the name Century Bank and Trust Company. Over the years, it underwent several significant changes and expansions. In 1972, the institution changed its name to Century Bank and Trust Company. On June 10, 1975, it converted its trust powers to full status, allowing it to offer a wider range of financial services. The bank further expanded its operations by acquiring several institutions, including Century North Shore Bank and Trust Company in Lynn, Massachusetts, and The Bank of Massachusetts, Inc., d/b/a Century Bank/Suffolk in Chelsea, Massachusetts, both on November 16, 1992. On March 31, 2006, the bank officially adopted the name Century Bank and Trust Company after a previous service name. It relocated its main office multiple times, with a move to 400 Mystic Avenue in Medford, Massachusetts on August 21, 2006, and subsequently to 102 Fellsway West in Somerville, Massachusetts on August 25, 2006. Century Bank continued its operations until November 12, 2021, when it merged with Eastern Bank, based in Boston, Massachusetts, marking the end of its independent existence.
