Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes, becoming Union Bank/Streator in December 1988 and later UnionBank in May 1991. In its early years, the bank acquired various smaller banks in Illinois, such as Ottawa National Bank in May 1991 and Union Bank/Sandwich in October 1997. Expanding further, UnionBank consolidated several banks throughout the early 2000s, including UnionBank/Central in March 2003 and Union Trust Corporation in October 2004. On November 13, 2006, the institution changed its name to Centrue Bank and relocated its main office to 201 East Main Street in Streator, Illinois. In June 2007, the bank continued its growth by acquiring Bank 10 in Belton, Missouri.
