History Of Central Bank
Central Bank, originally established as Montrose National Bank of Houston on May 31, 1956, has undergone several name changes and structural adjustments throughout its history. On October 30, 1961, it became Central National Bank of Houston and subsequently withdrew from the Federal Reserve System on August 1, 1979, when it changed its chartering agency to state level and updated its name to Central Bank of Houston. The institution continued to grow, acquiring several banks, including Liberty Bank in Houston on March 5, 1987, and Lexington State Bank in Lexington, Texas, on May 11, 1989. On April 7, 1999, it acquired Caldwell National Bank in Caldwell, Texas, and rebranded itself as Central Bank. In the years that followed, the bank's main office moved twice within Houston, Texas, finally settling at 11201 Clay Road on June 30, 2008. After changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve on October 1, 2014, Central Bank became a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System.
