History Of Central Bank of The Ozarks

Central Bank of The Ozarks was established on July 30, 1956, under the original name Empire Bank. The institution underwent a name change to Empire Bank on January 14, 1977. Following several mergers and acquisitions, the bank expanded its operations significantly, including the acquisition of Nixa Bank on November 29, 1991, and the relocation of its main office to 1800 South Glenstone in Springfield, Missouri, on the same day. Subsequent acquisitions included The Pleasant Hope Bank and Webster County Bank in 1995, The Greene County Bank in 2008, and Citizens National Bank of Springfield in 2010. On January 2, 2014, Central Bank of The Ozarks transitioned to state-chartered status and became a member of the Federal Reserve System. The bank officially changed its name to Central Bank of The Ozarks on June 12, 2015. After more than six decades of operation, it merged with The Central Trust Bank on October 1, 2021, resulting in its transition as part of a larger banking entity located in Jefferson City, Missouri.
