The Central Bank of Sedalia was established in 1883 under the name The Third National Bank of Sedalia. Over the years, the institution underwent several name and regulatory changes, notably on June 12, 2015, when it changed its name to Central Bank of Sedalia and became a state-chartered bank, a member of the Federal Reserve System, with the Federal Reserve as its primary federal regulatory agency. On October 1, 2011, the bank expanded its operations by acquiring The Union Savings Bank, also located in Sedalia, Missouri. Additionally, on October 27, 1980, the main office of the bank was relocated to 301 West Broadway, Sedalia, Missouri. The Central Bank of Sedalia continued to operate until October 1, 2021, when it merged with The Central Trust Bank, based in Jefferson City, Missouri.
