History Of Centier Bank
Centier Bank, originally established as the Bank of Whiting on April 21, 1895, is a financial institution located in Whiting, Indiana. The bank underwent several name changes and acquisitions throughout its history, beginning with a name change to The First Bank of Whiting on September 14, 1960. In 1976, the main office was relocated to 1500 - 119th Street in Whiting. The bank continued its growth in the 1980s by acquiring The First National Bank of Crown Point in Crown Point, Indiana, on June 11, 1982, followed by the acquisition of South Lake National Bank in Lowell, Indiana, on August 11, 1982. The bank changed its name to Centier Bank on October 3, 1991, and expanded further by acquiring First Commerce Savings Bank, FSB in Lowell, Indiana, on February 7, 1992, as part of a government-assisted merger.
