CBL State Savings Bank, originally established as Citizens Building and Loan Association in 1907, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. The bank's primary federal regulatory agency transitioned to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 2011, before switching to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in November 2012, coinciding with several changes including its classification to an FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank. In November 2012, the institution was renamed Citizens Building and Loan, SSB. The organization type changed to a Stock Savings Bank in March 2016.
