CBC National Bank was established on May 10, 2000, originally under the name Lowcountry National Bank. The institution underwent a name change to CBC National Bank on August 10, 2008, on the same day it acquired the First National Bank of Nassau County in Fernandina Beach, Florida, and relocated its main office to 1891 South 14th Street, Fernandina Beach, Florida. On April 2, 2016, CBC National Bank further expanded by acquiring First Avenue National Bank located in Ocala, Florida. After several years of operations, on April 2, 2018, CBC National Bank merged with First Federal Bank of Florida, based in Lake City, Florida. Following this merger, the bank officially changed its name to First Federal Bank on June 1, 2018.
