History Of Cardinal Bank

Cardinal Bank, originally established as Cardinal Bank, National Association on June 8, 1998, was a financial institution based in Virginia. Over the years, Cardinal Bank expanded its operations through various acquisitions, including the acquisition of Cardinal Bank - Dulles in Reston, Virginia, and Cardinal Bank-Potomac in McLean, Virginia, in November 2001, followed by the acquisition of Cardinal Bank - Manassas/Prince William in March 2002. The bank underwent significant changes in its structure and regulatory status on December 22, 2004, when it changed its name to Cardinal Bank, transitioned to a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System, and withdrew from Federal Reserve membership. Cardinal Bank moved its main office to 8270 Greensboro Drive, Suite 500, McLean, Virginia, in June 2004 and later again in March 2006. Further expanding its services, the bank changed its trust powers to full on February 8, 2006. Cardinal Bank continued to grow until it was acquired by United Bank in a merger on April 22, 2017, becoming part of the larger financial institution based in Fairfax, Virginia.
