CapStar Bank was established on July 14, 2008, primarily serving the financial needs of customers in Tennessee. The bank expanded its operations through a series of acquisitions, including American Security Bank and Trust Company in Hendersonville, Tennessee, in August 2012, and Athens Federal Community Bank National Association in Athens, Tennessee, in October 2018. In July 2020, CapStar Bank further broadened its footprint by acquiring The Bank of Waynesboro in Waynesboro, Tennessee, and The First National Bank of Manchester in Manchester, Tennessee. In March 2017, the bank relocated its main office to 1201 Demonbreun Street Suite 700 in Nashville, Tennessee. On April 1, 2024, CapStar Bank merged with Old National Bank, based in Evansville, Indiana, marking the end of its operations as an independent institution.
