History Of Capital Bank
Capital Bank was originally established on August 7, 1964, under the name Fort Oglethorpe State Bank in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. The institution underwent a name change to Fort Oglethorpe State Bank on January 10, 1974. It was later renamed Capital Bank on April 1, 1986. The main office of Capital Bank was relocated twice in Fort Oglethorpe, first to 240 Battlefield Parkway on October 15, 1989, moved again to the same address on October 23, 1989, and finally to 625 Battlefield Parkway on October 1, 1998. On October 24, 2018, Capital Bank merged with FNB Bank in Scottsboro, Alabama. Subsequently, on May 1, 2021, it merged with BancorpSouth Bank, located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Following this merger, Capital Bank changed its name to Cadence Bank on October 29, 2021.
