HISTORY OF CAPE BANK
Cape Bank, originally established in 1923 as the Cape May County Savings and Loan Association, underwent several name changes and structural transformations throughout its history. In 1987, it became known as Cape Savings and Loan Association, and in 1993, it changed its name to Cape Savings Bank while transitioning to a mutual savings bank organization type. The institution continued to evolve and, on February 1, 2008, it adopted the name Cape Bank and changed its organization type to a stock savings bank. This year also marked the acquisition of Boardwalk Bank in Linwood, New Jersey. On April 1, 2015, Cape Bank expanded its portfolio by acquiring Colonial Bank, Fsb in Vineland, New Jersey. Subsequently, it changed its institution name to Cape Bank on the same date. The bank’s history culminated on May 2, 2016, when it merged with OceanFirst Bank, based in Toms River, New Jersey, thereby becoming part of a larger banking entity.
