History Of Brattleboro Savings & Loan Association
The Brattleboro Savings & Loan Association is a financial institution established on January 1, 1912, originally operating under its founding name. Over the years, the institution underwent several significant changes. In 1985, it adopted the shortened name Brattleboro Savings and Loan Association, which was modified in 1994 to include "F.a." In the same year, it also acquired the Springfield Savings and Loan Association located in Springfield, Vermont. Regulation of the institution changed multiple times; it was overseen by the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) in 1994, and later transitioned to supervision by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 2009. The organization type was altered to a Mutual Savings Bank, and it became a FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank at that time.
