History Of BPD Bank
BPD Bank was established on January 27, 1986, under the original name of The Dominican Bank. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including a name change to BPD International Bank on May 31, 1990. The bank's main office was relocated multiple times within New York City, moving to 200 West 57th Street on April 2, 1993, then to 152 West 57th Street, Carnegie Hall Tower, on April 10, 1995. On October 1, 2003, the bank was renamed BPD Bank, and later that year, on November 24, it moved its main office to 90 Broad Street, 5th Floor, New York, New York. On October 8, 2013, BPD Bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, thus changing its classification to a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System. Ultimately, BPD Bank voluntarily closed and liquidated its assets on March 31, 2014.
