History Of BMO Bank
BMO Bank, officially known as BMO Harris Bank National Association, has a history dating back to its establishment as Glencoe National Bank on May 17, 1947, in Glencoe, Illinois. The institution underwent several name changes, becoming Harris Bank Glencoe-Northbrook in 1985. Over the years, the bank expanded significantly through numerous acquisitions, including Harris Trust and Savings Bank and multiple Harris Bank branches across Illinois in 2005. Following these expansions, the bank changed its name to Harris National Association on May 27, 2005. In July 2011, the bank adopted its current name after acquiring several institutions, including Marshall & Ilsley Bank and The Harris Bank National Association. The bank continued to grow, completing notable acquisitions such as Amcore Bank in 2010 and M&I National Trust Company in 2012. Most recently, on September 19, 2022, BMO Bank relocated its main office to 320 South Canal Street in Chicago, Illinois.

if you answer or complain trying to get into your account. you get flagged. So, trying to close your account after you move to a state that does not have a BMO to physically go into to close account is not viable. It is SO very difficult to get anyone to answer the phone at this Bank!... every time I call!... this has to be the 5th-6th time in the last 6 months or so that I've tried to call and no one answers the phone!... then you're sent to someone that can't speak English well and they try to transfer me back to the local bank and then again, no one answers!... it's getting to the point I'm about to swit...
