Best Hometown Bank was established in 1887 under the name Home Federal Savings and Loan Association of Collinsville, Illinois. Over the years, the organization underwent several changes, including a change in its organizational type to a Mutual Savings Bank in 2014 and then to a Stock Savings Bank in 2016. On July 8, 2016, the institution adopted the name Best Hometown Bank. The bank's primary federal regulatory agency changed to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 2011. In 1989, the main office was moved to 100 East Clay Street, Collinsville, Illinois. On June 29, 2020, Best Hometown Bank merged with and became part of the First National Bank of Waterloo, located in Waterloo, Illinois.
