History Of Beal Bank
Beal Bank, originally established as Beal Savings Banc on March 10, 1988, has undergone several name changes and regulatory transitions throughout its history. In December 1992, the institution was renamed Beal Banc, Savings Association, and it relocated its main office to Dallas, Texas, on October 13, 1992. By December 1, 1994, it adopted the name Beal Bank, s.s.b., transitioned to a stock savings bank, and became regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The bank experienced further changes, including a change of charter to a federal savings bank in February 2008 and the acquisition of Southern Pacific Bank in Torrance, California, through a government-assisted merger in February 2003. In January 2010, Beal Bank transitioned to being an FDIC-supervised state savings bank and changed its name to Beal Bank, Ssb. This led to additional mergers, such as the acquisition of New South Federal Savings Bank in Irondale, Alabama, in December 2009. On October 14, 2011, Beal Bank expanded its operations by acquiring Charter Bank in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The most recent significant change occurred on December 15, 2020, when Beal Bank redefined its organization type to a commercial bank, changed its bank class to a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System, and streamlined its name to Beal Bank.
