BankTrust Financial, originally established as Henderson National Bank on February 22, 2000, underwent several name changes and organizational shifts throughout its history. On October 13, 2008, the institution rebranded to The Bank of Henderson Inc. and simultaneously withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
