BankNorth is a financial institution with a history dating back to its establishment in 1905 as the First State Bank of Arthur in Arthur, North Dakota. The bank underwent significant changes in name and ownership over the years. On June 16, 1992, it changed its name to First State Bank of North Dakota, coinciding with the acquisition of the First State Bank of Buffalo on the same date. In 2005, BankNorth expanded its operations by acquiring The First State Bank of La Moure in La Moure, North Dakota. Following these changes, the institution relocated its main office to 340 Main Street in Arthur, North Dakota, on September 30, 1989. Ultimately, the bank rebranded itself as BankNorth on December 4, 2010, and again underwent a name change on July 20, 2018, adopting its current name, BankNorth.
