BankFirst is a financial institution that was established on February 9, 1970, originally bearing the name Bank of Norfolk. The institution underwent several changes and acquisitions in the following decades. On October 29, 1986, it acquired First Savings Company of Norfolk and subsequently changed its trust powers to full on September 16, 1986. The bank rebranded as Bank of Norfolk on April 13, 1974, and later adopted the name BankFirst on November 18, 2002. Additionally, BankFirst acquired Columbus FSB on November 16, 2002. In 2015, the main office of the bank was relocated to 100 North 13th Street in Norfolk, Nebraska. The bank continued its expansion by acquiring Iowa-Nebraska State Bank in South Sioux City, Nebraska, on December 10, 2018. Through these strategic moves, BankFirst has established itself as a prominent financial institution in the region.
