History Of Bank of Western Oklahoma
The Bank of Western Oklahoma, originally established as The Farmers National Bank of Elk City on April 1, 1908, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. In 1976, the bank relocated its main office to 202 East Broadway Street in Elk City, Oklahoma, before moving again in 1996 to 201 East Broadway Street, where it currently operates. On February 1, 1979, the institution changed its name to Bank of Western Oklahoma and shifted its chartering agency to a state-level authority while withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. Over a decade later, on October 9, 1998, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency back to the Federal Reserve and became a member of the Federal Reserve System once more.
