History Of Bank of the Southwest
Bank of the Southwest has a history that dates back to its establishment as Hot Springs National Bank on March 18, 1930. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and ownership transitions. On June 2, 1978, the bank rebranded itself as Western Bank and withdrew from the Federal Reserve System while also changing its chartering agency to state oversight. In 1989, the name was changed to FirstBank Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The bank adopted its current name, Bank of the Southwest, on November 17, 1992. Expanding its operations, the bank acquired FirstBank in Farmington, New Mexico, on August 27, 1993. The main office of Bank of the Southwest was relocated to 226 North Main Street, Roswell, New Mexico, on January 9, 1995.
