History Of Bank of North Carolina

Bank of North Carolina was established on December 3, 1991. Over the years, it expanded through a series of acquisitions, including Independence Bank in Kernersville, North Carolina, in June 2002, and SterlingSouth Bank & Trust Company in Greensboro, North Carolina, in July 2006. The institution changed its name to Bank of North Carolina on April 9, 2010, coinciding with the acquisition of Beach First National Bank in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The bank continued to grow by acquiring several other institutions, such as Blue Ridge Savings Bank, Inc. in Asheville, North Carolina, and Regent Bank in Greenville, South Carolina, both in 2011, and additional banks across the Southeastern United States in subsequent years. Notable acquisitions included SouthCoast Community Bank in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, on June 17, 2016, and High Point Bank and Trust Company in High Point, North Carolina, on November 1, 2016. Ultimately, on June 16, 2017, Bank of North Carolina merged with Pinnacle Bank based in Nashville, Tennessee, concluding its operations as an independent institution.
